Monthly Nail Art Favourites – October 2019

Monthly Nail Art Favourites – October 2019

So far, this blog has mainly been about sharing my designs and artwork. However, there is such a huge and talented community of nail artists around the world, with amazing designs that deserve to be celebrated. As a result, I decided to share some of these, here are five of my favourite nail art looks from this month. Enjoy!

  1. Coralee’s Rainbow Nails, Insatiable

Coralee Armstrong is known for her big hair, extravagant outfits and Southern accent, but one thing I noticed a lot about her was that her nail game is always on point (I think she has a new design every episode which is pretty impressive). A look that really stood out to me was her rainbow nails in the seventh episode of the second season. This is such a fun design with a playful use of colour. It was the first thing I was drawn to in these scenes.

P.s. this show is wild and a bit of a mess but so entertaining.

  1. MaddisonRoseNails, Breast Cancer Awareness Nail art.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you search through the #BreastCancerAwarenessNails tag on Instagram, it is filled with pink shades, designs with ribbons and inspirational stories that all help spread awareness of breast cancer and its impact (you can check out my look here). I loved this simple yet powerful piece by MaddisonRoseNails. The use of pink, the incorporation of the ribbon symbol and the black outline of the breasts reminding those to get checked. I love how such a simple design can spread such a powerful message.

  1. @___floweryang___

I love the use of colour and space in this design. It takes three fairly simple shapes and combines this in a way that really makes the design come to life. Its designs like this that make nail art so enjoyable for me. I love experimenting with different shapes and patterns and this look definitely pulled that off in a sophisticated way.

  1. @mee_yagi

Similar to the last design, I love how Japanese nail artist @mee_yagi incorporates space. I typically tend to fill the whole nail and leave any ‘clear spaces’ as a neutral colour, but something about leaving this completely blank really brings out the design. It is definitely a unique piece and I haven’t seen anything like this before. I’m also obsessed with the rainbow element on the middle finger. This whole look just screams ‘fierceeeee’.

  1. LA STYLE NAILS & SPA, Halloween nails

Of course, I couldn’t complete an October favourites list without a reference to Halloween! I love how well the gradient from baby pink to grey to black works as these are not colours I would typically pair together. I also love the detail on the spider web. Pink is not a colour most would associate with Halloween which just goes to show how a bit of creativity and play with colours can really take a theme to the next level.

  • I really do go through phases when it comes to doing nail art. A lot of the time I wear plain nails (mainly because I am lazy and don’t want to have to do nail art on both hands) but then sometimes plain swatches just don’t do it for me. Does anyone else get like that? Or is that just me?

    • Hey Angelina 🙂 I go through a lot of phases too. I love experimenting with patterns and colours but sometimes I just feel like going with a simple colour. What I’ve started doing recently is going for a plain colour then adding simple lines or dots to a few nails to give it a bit of life.
