Superdrug Studio London Nail Polish Review
I purchased a set from the Superdrug Studio London range a few months ago and finally got round to trying out some of the colours. These were not necessary colours I would typically go for which is why I was so excited to try them out. This is sold in sets of three and six and can be found online on Ebay or Amazon for very low prices (around £3-8 depending on the quantity brought).
The first polish I tried out was a mushroom tone, I liked the earthy vibe of this colour, and how it is something that can really go with everything. I used this polish for my graduation (I wore a black and white outfit) and it was a nice addition. Unfortunately as it was such a light shade, it required quite a lot of coats (I typically use two coats but this needed three) which means that the polish may not last as longer as others. However, I did really enjoy the final look and the smooth texture of the polish.
The next polish I tried out was the gold shade. I was a little hesitant about this one as I don’t usually like very sparkly nail varnish but I wanted to give this one a try. This had a better texture than the mushroom tone which was quite surprising since most glitter shades tend to be thin. At first, I wasn’t 100% sure if I really liked the final look but after taking some pictures in the sun, I started warming up to it. Again, I personally am not a fan of super shiny nails so I’m a little biased on this, but in terms of the texture and definition of the shine, it was great. I’d definitely recommend this for anyone who likes gold tones and light texture polishes. I’ll definitely use this again, however more likely for patterned design or in combination with other lighter colours like beige for a nice contrast.
The final shade I tried was a medium purple tone. I was really excited for this as it is something I’ve been on the lookout for as most as purple shades are typically very light or too dark. This was the perfect combination and was definitely my favourite shade of the three I tried out. It required two coats as recommended, with a consistent texture-not too watery or too thick. It is definitely a colour I think would suit shorter nails too and I’m looking forward to using this more.
I kept each colour on for about a week, and had no problem with staining for the mushroom or purple polish. The gold polish however, took longer and required a greater amount of polish remover to take off. Other than that, there were no major issues with removing the polishes.
Another really cool addition of the Superdrug Studio London range was that the back of each set includes simple instructions on how to use the polish. I think this is a really nice touch, particularly those who are painting their nails for the first time.
What I really like about trying out nail sets is that even if some of the polishes included are not colours I typically like (in this instance the gold shade) it is still a pretty good deal for the price and you get to try out shades you would usually ignore when shopping for individual colours. This definitely opened my mind to coming out of my comfort zone when it comes to choosing shades. The range is also vegan and vegetarian friendly which is a plus!
Lots of love,
