2021 New York Fashion Week Nails Inspired by Moschino
It’s that time of year again! Although the current circumstances of the world have meant that sit-in shows are a no go, brands, designers and fashion houses have not let this stop their creativity from flowing. This year, there has been a rise in the number of fashion films used to showcase new designs. As someone who enjoys film and media, this is a perfect way to bring outfits to life through the art of storytelling.
A film that really stood out to me was Moschino’s ‘Jungle Red’. This had a campy theatrical vibe and showcased a range of amazing looks from their Fall/Winter 2021 collection. This was inspired by the fashion-centric 1939 film ‘The Women’ which followed the lives of various women in Manhattan’s high society. It captured the multi-dimensional lives of an everyday woman, ranging from a successful businesswoman to a wealthy wife. Take a look at the film here:
A series of looks that really stood out to me were these colourful garmets with matching makeup. I love how well the colours mesh together and knew this would translate really well as nail art.
The nail art
I decided to recreate the blue and orange outfit as I loved how well the colours complimented each other. This look only took about 15 minutes to put together and I really got to have fun with the brush and play around with the colours.
1) I started off with a light blue polish and painted a medium-sized line on each nail.
2) I then used a dark blue nail art pen and added another line on each nail. I decided to go completely random with the size and style of this, hence why some are more ‘splodges’ than lines.
3) I then used an orange shade and filled in some of the empty spaces on the nail.
4) I decided to add a few thin white lines on each nail, just to add more definition and finished off the look with a top coat.
I hope you have enjoyed this post and it inspires you to create a fun look based on an outfit that catches your eye. What are your favourite looks from this seasons’ Fashion Week?
